We're pleased to offer the following services in our Midvale Veterinary Hospital:

Wellness Care and Vaccinations

We provide 30 minute wellness exams for our patients and clients. We feel that this allows our veterinary staff the time required to ensure a complete and thorough examination and also time for answering all your questions. It also allows time for discussing wellness and preventive measures that are specifically designed for your pet, including preventative care, wellness testing and parasite control.

Vaccine protocols are designed specifically for each individual patient using the most current information and vaccines available. Our vaccines are chosen based on their safety and ability to provide protection. Different life stages and exposure warrants choosing different vaccines. Every pet has a protocol designed just for them.

Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Walk-ins and emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.

Emergency & Urgent Care

We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 6 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such a snail bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.

We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

Surgical and Dental Procedures

Our doctors and technical staff are fully trained and equipped to perform many soft tissue surgeries as well as provide dental care. Soft tissues surgeries can include routine procedures such as spays, neuters and growth removals, but our veterinarians can also provide surgical treatment for more emergent health issues such as urinary stone removal, cesarean sections or intestinal blockage removal. We use our knowledge and experience to design the best individual surgical plan for each patient, and provide the highest level of patient monitoring during the entire process. Our hospital utilizes advanced protocols and equipment to ensure your pet’s comfort and safety. All patients are provided with preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative pain relief. Often this is built into the cost of the procedure. We are able to do most companion animal surgeries at Alcor Cresta Veterinary Hospital and can provide referrals for more complex procedures not performed at our facility.

 Routine dental care at Alcor Cresta includes a dental exam, fully monitored anesthesia and intravenous fluids, dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs. We are also able to monitor and/or treat many different types of dental disease and administer needed treatment. Our doctors have received advanced dental training with board certified dentistry specialists, allowing them to provide the highest quality dental care for your pet. Our doctors and technicians can help design a plan to help alleviate advance periodontal disease in your pet, including extractions, Doxirobe treatments, mass removals and most surgical dentistry that may be needed. We can provide referral for more complex procedures not provided at our hospital.  

  Dr. Llewellyn and Dr. Butterwick  also offer on-site pre-surgical blood testing and ultrasonography as additional safety measures for your pets. We use this information to design the safest, most efficient anesthetic protocol to ensure your pets has the best surgical experience possible. Our team strives for excellence in surgical care in order to help strengthen and preserve the human-animal bond.

Internal Medicine

We are committed to diagnosing, designing treatment and evaluating response to treatment for a variety of diseases and conditions. We'll work with you in finding solutions to medical concerns to help maintain or improve your pet’s quality of life. Commonly diagnosed medical problems such as diabetes, kidney disease , liver disease and thyroid disease can be treated with the most current medical protocols and medications. We offer ultrasound, digital x-ray, endoscopy and surgical options to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of many common and uncommon medical conditions. We are committed to providing the best services available for our clients and their pets.

Grooming

We offer grooming services Monday through Friday.  Our groomers are both fully trained and experienced in all breeds of dogs. Grooming includes bathing, brushing, nail trimming, external anal gland expression and most cuts/styles.  

We can also groom cats! Stacy is available for cat grooming Wednesday through Friday each week. She is able to groom many felines without sedation; however, we are equipped to sedate and monitor cats who may need it.

Our groomers are well versed in many breeds as well as patient who may have complicating medical issues such as allergies or other skin conditions.  We are able to work with many different medical and behavioral situations to provide the safest grooming experience possible. We offer medicated shampoos and conditioners for those pets who may need it.

We do ask that all patients be current on vaccination prior to their grooming appointment.

Boarding

Our doctors and staff are proud to be able to offer a personalized and attentive boarding facility.  We have fully trained boarding technicians on staff twelve hours a day with the sole focus of your pets.  They walk, feed, clean and socialize with each boarder throughout the their stay with us.  We have a small, fenced back yard for our canine companions to explore.  

Our facility is traditional boarding, with pets staying in individual and separate kennels through out the day.  Boarding technicians ensure they have access to clean spaces, bedding and bowls as well as fresh food and water. The are also trained to administer medications and are able to provide basic medical care for your pets during their stay. Dogs are leash walked four to five times daily in our fenced yard. We are full service, meaning that we can provide bedding, bowls and leashes, and litter boxes (for our feline friends!) as well as Science Diet sensitive stomach dry food for dogs and cats.  

Please be aware we require all pets to be current on vaccines prior to their boarding stay. If your pet is on medications or a specialized diet, we ask that your provide enough to last your pet throughout their stay. 

Nutrition

Our team at Alcor Cresta feels that nutrition is the cornerstone of good health.  Dr. Llewellyn and Dr. Butterwick are well educated what your pet needs to stay healthy and vibrant and will be happy to help you design a personalized diet plan.  We offer Hills Science Diet medical diets on site as well as Purina, Royal Canin and Eukanuba diets on our online pharmacy.  

We understand there is no standard, one size fits all answer to  nutrition.  Each patient and their owner has a unique health need and situation.  Our staff is fully able to work with you as a team to create a personalized nutrition!

Behavior

Behavioral concerns are some of the biggest problems pet owners face.  A large number of pets are given up every year to shelters due to behavior related issues. The veterinarians at Alcor Cresta have years of experience to draw upon in order to help you solve new and chronic behavioral problems. We can devise treatment, training and/or drug therapy plans to ease your pet’s anxiety and help improve problem behaviors. We also have relationships with many different trainers and behavioralists in the Salt Lake Valley in order to best help you alleviate any behavior issues you and your pet may be facing. Much of our staff is also Fear Free certified and well versed in handling patients with a variety of behavioral issues.

Alcor Cresta Veterinary Hospital accepts payment via cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express and Care Credit. So that we can continue to provide you high quality service utilizing the best medical technologies, we request that payment be made at the time services are rendered.

We provide estimates for all surgeries and hospitalizations. If you have not received an estimate, you are welcome to request one at any time for your expected charges.
